Chankanaab National Park is a beautiful natural zone located at the ocean side road, in Cozumel Island. The Chankanaab Park was decreed National Park and a conservation area for shelter, refuge and protection for endemic flora and incredible marine fauna, in 1980. The word “Chankanaab” comes from the Mayan language: “chan” means small, and “kanaab” is ocean, and it makes reference to the natural water formation that is located inside the park.
